What are these Paradigms?
PrePre-industrial “Caveat Emptor” The concept of quality was based on the philosophy of “we know it when we see it.” This meant that quality doesn’t have to be defined, it is a direct experience arising from the basic senses (i.e. the quality of baked bricks). The consumer was responsible for assuring the quality of the goods they purchased in essence “let the buyer beware” (i.e. food vendors and shoemakers or coopers).
