4.3 Explain how peer and self-assessment can be used effectively to promote learner involvement and personal responsibility in the assessment of learning
It is important for the learner to reflect on their learning as it provides them with the motivation to continuously complete the necessary components of their qualification, it can show them how far they have progressed and the areas they still need to progress to allowing them to ask for extra support in certain areas if needed. I encourage my learners to have a personal responsibility for their qualification by including them in the planning of assessment and during visits when asking if there are areas that they need help in understanding. I also ask my learners to let me know when they have completed any work that they feel covers criteria in their qualification so that they are aware of what the qualification covers and can relate this to their job role. This is effective as it means that the learner is always aware of their qualification and that they are taking pride in their work as well.
4.4 Explain how assessment arrangements can be adapted to meet the needs of individual learners
Assessment arrangements need to be adaptable as these will differ from learner to learner, and they will also change over time. This could be dependent on personal preferences or on the way the learner learns, for example a learner could learn better through watching someone complete the task whereas another could learn better from actually completing the task, this could be seen by completing a learning styles assessment at the start of the learner’s qualification. This will adapt your assessment methods as the way you teach the learner the necessary knowledge will be dependent on the learning style, a learner who is auditory will learn better through the assessor talking the knowledge through, whereas a learner who is visual will learn better through the assessor showing them the knowledge through pictures and...
