Aii   Explain how effective communication can affect relationships in an adult social care setting between:

a) Colleagues and other professionals    
    Communication is the basis of all relationships regardless of whether the relationship is professional or personal. Effective communication is important as it helps to pass clear and concise information in order to decrease and eliminate the possibility of mistakes and risks to people in the care setting. Sharing information thought out communication aids us to build a strong belief, good team and strong relationships with are colleagues, service users and other practitioners.                                                                                                  
b) Individuals using the service and their carers    
Individuals communicate to express their needs and preferences and to ensure they are met. As a support worker I would discuss the options and choices available to allow them to be informed choice about their care.
     
                                                                           
Aiii   Identify three ways of finding out the communication and language needs of an individual. For each method, describe how effective it is at establishing the needs of the individual.
Look at the care plan, ask the individual, ask colleagues or key people.
The care plan can be a good method if its fully completed but if the individual is an emergency admission to the care setting then it may not be that effective as the care plan may not be completed.
asking family is good but not so effective if the individual has no family members.
