1.1 What Is the Purpose of Internal Quality Assurance in Learning and Development

In a teaching and learning environment student becomes a product and quality assurance can be defined as a system to monitor and evaluate this product. The purposes of Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) in this environment are
• To identify roles   of the individual   and   their responsibilities within the process
• To help in planning the administrative arrangements like collection of data, resources required and to maintain an easy and clear communication
• It also helps in different forms of standardization and how the samples must be selected. It must also be taken into consideration that the sample should be adequate to cover the population.
• The profile of the   product for which the quality should be assessed must be matched with the different forms of standardization to select the   apt form of standardization.
• It helps the teacher to be systematic in planning, execution and monitoring their plans on training and assessment of their students.
• It helps the students because of the transparency and how they are taken along with their teachers on their learning experience. Moreover it helps them to understand how they are assessed.
• Another purpose of IQA is to understand and plan how the feed backs can be used to better the learning environment. IQA can also help to set procedures to settle assessment disputes and improve the quality of assessments.
• The learners are benefitted as they understand the concept of confidentiality and the process of data protection.
• It gives an opportunity for the learners to understand and give the organization the information for a better functioning.
• It also gives an opportunity to address the rules and regulations that will have an impact on procedures. For e.g legal issues.
