Why Not to Quit College

In today’s society, many people argue that college’s negatives aspects outnumber the positive. In actuality, college has its negatives just as everything else does, but the benefits have been proven to outweigh the negatives. The economic advantage and personal benefits that college gives a person, have formulated lifestyles.
College is an investment in your future. One of the main points anti-college arguments give is the financial aspect. College is very expensive, and the cost of tuition is only rising, as is everything else in today’s society. Colleges offer vast resources and technology for it’s students. College campuses contain multiple computer labs and a variety of databases available for student use. These resources are not free for the college; it is part of the price a student must pay for a higher education (Epple, Romano, and Sieg 885-928). The terrible economic state of our country should be motivation for people to obtain a college education. Not having a degree is a huge obstacle in finding a job today. It’s difficult enough finding a good paying job with a college degree, without one it’s nearly impossible. With everything being so costly in today’s society, a good paying job is absolutely necessary in order to survive. Someone without a college education has less of an opportunity to acquire a good paying job. The average income in the American household today is fifty thousand dollars a year, and this is not even living comfortably. (“United States Census Bureau”) That number is without bills and other expenses. Long Island especially has a much higher living cost and making seven dollars and fifty cents at McDonalds is not going to cut it. Financial problems are one of the top reasons for divorce in America today. Not having the money to pay the bills is an extremely stressful situation that puts strain on any relationship or marriage. Not being able to provide for your family is a terrible feeling that no parent ever wants to experience....
