1.1 List the aspects of employment covered by law
Every aspect of employment is covered by law. The first of any form of employment needs a contract; the employee must have a contract of employment. There is a whole series of laws that relate to the conditions of work, these include:
• Minimum wage
• Hours worked
• Discrimination
• Health and safety
• Holiday entitlements
• Redundancy and dismissal
• Training
• Disciplinary procedures
• Union rights and consultation, etc.
Employment law is different in different countries and there are many more laws, but these are which I would say are the main laws in employment.

1.2 List the main features of current employment legislation
The list of the main features of current employment legislation includes:
• Employment rights
• Equality and discrimination
• Health and safety

Within my role as a Senior Health Care Assistant I ensure that all times I adhere to the following legislation to prevent any accidents and injuries at work
• The Health and Safety at work regulations
• The Control of Substances hazardous to health regulations
• Moving and Handling at work regulations

1.3 Outline why legislation relating to employment exists
The Employment Legislation is important as it provides protection against discrimination at the workplace and helps in the fight for fair and equal pay for the employees. The legislation also ensures safety of employees at the workplace. The legislation is also important in defining at-will employment and contract employment.
