UNIVERSITY INTERNAL MEDICINE
I chose to do my project about the facility where I work. The name of the office is University Internal Medicine. It is an Internal Medicine office. Our office is a branch of a bigger organization called Carolinas Healthcare System, or CHS as we call it. CHS is accredited thru the Joint commission. We are considered a physician’s office. Our office is located inside of a Wells Fargo call center that employees over 5 thousand people. Our office was initially set up as an on-site facility for Wells Fargo employees only but later decided to also see outside patients as well. In our office we have 2 PA's that work under an outside Doctor that has his own office, but he comes in to the office to make sure the facility is operating properly. University Internal Medicine is a fairly small facility, we have 2 administrative staff, 3 clinical staff, which includes the lab Person and we have the office manager. Our office does not see patients under 18 nor do we see patients with Medicare or Medicaid. Our office is insurance only or self-pay.
Carolinas Healthcare System is a charlotte based organization. It is the largest healthcare system in North Carolina and South Carolina. They have over 7,500 licensed acute and post-acute beds, there are over 900 locations and they have over 60,000 employees. They operate 8 hospitals within the charlotte area, and another 25 hospitals in surrounding cities thru out North and South Carolina. They have 6 freestanding emergency departments and 24 urgent care clinics in the charlotte area.
