REFLECTIVE JOURNAL ON PRINCIPLES OF ASSESSMENT, SCHEME OF WORK AND FUNCTIONAL SKILLS.

WHAT HAVE I LEARNT FROM THIS UNIT, SESSION OR TASK?
      I learnt about the principles of assessment, scheme of work and functional skills. Assessment according to Gravells (2008)
    β€˜Is a way of finding out if learning has taken place. It enables you to ascertain if your students has gained the required skills, knowledge and the attitudes needed at a given point towards their programme of learning.’

      There are three types of assessment, these are initial assessment (at the beginning), formative (ongoing) and summative assessment (at the end). Gravells (2008) explains that, initial assessment should take place prior to or when students commence a particular programme or subject. Formative assessment should also take place continually throughout my students time with me and allow for development to take place and summative assessments usually occur at the end of a programme, topic, unit or full qualification.
    These are principles of assessment   which form the acronym CADET.
    β€˜A principle is a rule that you will follow, it is an underlying standard that you will not compromise .’

According to Wilson (2014). The acronym CADET are explained below   by Wilson (2014).
    Consistency is to ensure that the methods and timeliness of my assessment is at a level standard making certain that irrespective of   how and when learners are assessed the outcomes are constant. Accessibility is to make sure that all   of the learners are able to access my assessment and follow systems of equality and inclusion. Detailed is to ensure that assessments cover my curriculum or fairly and evenly, leaving no part undecided. Earned is also to ensure that your learners has achieved their qualifications with rigour and others will respect the integrity of the assessment .
