Negative language is used when the writer is referring to a point he doesn’t agree to, this makes his side of the argument appear to be stronger as he is describing it more positively and trying to make the reader agree with him, so therefore the opposing points to his argument seem weaker because he has used a more negative word choice when describing the opposing points.
