Explain the importance of designing services around the needs of children and young people.

The Every child matters outcome focuses on the well-being of   children and on their needs to be met which is for them to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, making a   positive contribution and also to achieve economic well-being

Every child is unique in their own way. Each child and young person will have a different set of needs. So there for services must be designed to be able to cater for individual needs. The five outcomes of every child matters provides a requirement for settings to aim high for the children in their care ensuring they have the opportunity to achieve each one of the outcomes. OFSTED during inspections in child care setting set out to ensure that each setting can provide and cater for every child’s needs. Children grow at different stages and may not all follow the same pattern of development. In situations where there are medical needs or disability impairments, this needs to be taken into account. The setting must be able to cater for any children in their setting with those special needs. Also child care services need to be able to work around children that come from different cultures and have different believes, to promote equity and reduce inequalities, professionals and services need to respect these differences and ensure equity of access to services which are appropriate for each individual. For example in my setting for lunch they provide halal meat for children that are Muslims.   It is important to design services around children and young people so that their needs can be met.
