EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

ES150101
09 Oct 15

(U) Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) recommended distribution. This executive summary is prepared to recommend the 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) 82nd Airborne Division (1/82ND IBCT), Fort Bragg, NC JLTV allocation and distribution. The analysis is based on an assumption to replace one third of the brigade’s High Mobility, Multi-Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) fleet. The brigade (BDE) current HMMWV authorized fleet is 62. One third is approximately 20 vehicles that will be allocated in the following order: 5X JLTVs to 1st BN, 504th Infantry (INF) Regiment (RG); 5X JLTVs to 2nd BN, 504th INF RG; 5X JLTVs to 2nd BN, 501st INF RG; 3X JLTVs to 3rd Squadron, 73rd Cavalry (CAV) RG; 1X JLTV to 3rd BN, 319 Field Artillery (FA) RG; and 1X JLTV to HHC, 1st BCT. This allocation allows utilizing the newly fielded JLTVs into the brigade’s primary maneuver, reconnaissance and surveillance, and fire missions with one vehicle allocated to conduct Mission Command (MC) for the BCT Headquarters (HQs). The prioritization for the distribution of JLTVs focus on the newly tactical vehicles required to provide the following assigned missions: command, control, and supervision of the operation of the brigade and attached units; to close with and destroy enemy forces using fire, maneuver, and shock effect, or to repel his assault by fire and counterattack; to conduct reconnaissance and surveillance in support of the development of the brigade's situational awareness and knowledge in the area of operations; and to destroy, neutralize, or suppress the enemy by cannon fires. With this new capability the BDE continues to support current and future global requirements.
