In my lifetime I was gripped with five grand mal seizures. Growing up as a child diagnosed with epilepsy, I know from personal experience what happens during these seizures. I had my first seizure when I was in the first grade, I was on the school bus when it hit. I woke up in a hospital not knowing what had happened and why there was wire all over my head.

Definition:
“Grand mal seizure is caused by abnormal electrical activity throughout the brain. In some cases, this type of seizure is triggered by other health problems, such as extremely low blood sugar or a stroke. However, most of the time grand mal seizure is caused by epilepsy.
Many people who have a grand mal seizure will never have another one. However in some people, daily anti-seizure medications are needed to control grand mal seizure.” (MayoClinic.com)

Each one of these body exhausting episodes caused me to sleep for at least 10 to 14 hours before awaking. I remember feeling when waking up that I was coming back from somewhere far away.
