Race and Society

There are many races with different society throughout the world. Due to the world second highest population, India contains a complicated society and mainly of Indians whom race is Hindu. Races and society in India is hard to be explained in just words, however, a director name Danny Boyle successfully revealed the race and society in India by creating a movie name “Slumdog millionaire” which won him 8 awards in Oscar.   This movie is mainly about Jamal Malik, an 18 year old orphan who is about to win 20million rupees on a movie show name “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” When he’s reaching to win the amount of money, he was accused cheating because the authority had evidence on him that he did not have any formal education before and had been a career-thief as a youngster (rAjOo, 2008).How can he know so much about the questions? He was tortured by the police who was trying to know how he knows the answers. To prove his innocence, Jamal tells the adventure of him as a slum with his brother, Salim went through when they were kids(Pictures,2008).During the adventure, he also encounters local gangs and the girl he love, Latika. Every chapter of his adventure revealed how he knows those answers to the question in the game. Other than that, this movie actually revealed the truth that what issue Muslims in Bombay, India have faced.
To begin with, issue that is face by Muslims in Bombay, India is poverty. Poverty, such as child labor happens. International Labor Organization claims that government in India estimated 12million of employment children under age 14.On the other hand, activists in India estimated that the true figure of child labor is 5times greater than the figure estimated by the government (Clifford, 2009). Meanwhile, in the movie, we can see that there are local gangs who try to persuade children by giving them beverages and places to live.
