Quality Care

Child care has become the norm for young children in our society. Research shows that child care quality not only contribute   to children’s developmental outcomes but also very important   for society as a whole, higher quality being associated with better developmental outcomes and poor quality being associated with poor developmental outcomes. There are certain elements and factors which are strong in high quality child care and weak in poor quality child care like: staff-child ratio, consistent well trained staff ,good health, safety ,physical environment, small groups ,adequate financing, regulations, auspice. These factors and elements   set the minimum standards for the child care .To provide better quality care one   needs to follow all of them strongly and consistently. Research shows that   not -for -profit organizations has come up with better quality child care conditions.

Quality child care has adequate adult -chid ratio, more consistent staff   provide better learning environment .Small groups give   an opportunity   for better adult child interaction .Well trained staff is   warm and responsive and good parent involvement is also there .In result   children perform good in the school .Where as poor quality care is over -ratio with large groups ,low wages , high staff turn over ,lack of trainings   make   the staff less knowledgeable, less equipments ,less aim activities for the children ,Poor health and safety conditions likely to have more infections and illness. Research shows   parent with good education who have warm and responsive environment at home   choose quality care. Being an early child hood educator it is necessary to know the importance of quality in child care to provide   developmental appropriate   environment to children .
