EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The purpose of this report is to carry out a critical comparison of the two case studies
presented:
1. Renault – Nissan – Mahindra (Private Sector) and
2. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (Public Sector)

This report will explore the key similarities and differences of Public and Private sector
collaborative activity.
This report will also evaluate both case studies and draw conclusions regarding the
establishment of collaborative ventures in the public and private sector.

The report will be presented in three parts. Section 1 will be the comparison of the two case
studies. Issues to be considered and discussed will include purpose, member’s attitude and
acceptance, partnership aims, boundaries, aims of the partnership and an evaluation
strategy. To complete this section the author will look at an academic model of an effective
partnership and how it relates to the two case studies being reviewed.

Section 2 will evaluate the two case studies using a series of evaluation tools.
Section 3 is the author’s conclusions drawn from the information provided and independent
research carried out.
