LEVEL 4 AWARD IN PREPARING TO TEACH IN THE LIFELONG LEARNING SECTOR (PTLLS)
Overview Since October 2007, The government has made it a mandatory requirement during the first year of service for all new teachers/trainers joining the Learning and Skills sector .Therefore, the Level 3 and Level 4 Awards in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector are appropriate for all new entrants to teaching in the lifelong learning sector or for those who are required to achieve a recognised teaching status as defined in the New Overarching Professional Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector. PTLLS is a one-unit qualification with five sections of a value of 6 credits on the Qualifications and Credit Framework. The PTLLS qualification is assessed by two groups of assignments: theory and practical. The practical include a micro-teach session. After the course, students are required to assemble their portfolio of both the practical and theoretical assignment for both internal and external assessment for the award. Aims and Objectives This qualification aims to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding required for teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector. The objectives of the qualifications are to help learners to:     understand the roles and responsibilities of the teacher understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches within a specialist area plan, deliver and evaluate a micro-teach session understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping
