The Economy Politic is a recognized academic discipline, at least in the Anglo-Saxon world. It has a coherent set of proposals and concepts, theories and research programs. It becomes autonomous as a discipline toward international relations from the 1970s when the international economy is experiencing a series of developments that lead to the question of the relative decline of American power in the face of emergence of new economic competitors (Japan and Germany).
