Painting Style

Neoclassicism Impressionism and Abstract Expression have many similarities and differences. These three types of art have been around for centuries. Neoclassicism is a very fine detailed colorful art the drawing The Emperor Napoleon in His Study at the Tuileries is a perfect example of Neoclassicism the painting of Napoleon is a perfect work of art it is a portrait painting that is well drawn with great color and great attention to detail. This painting reflects the time period well during this period it was very common for artist to do self-portraits for families and influential men of this period Napoleon had great influence on this time period and the painting makes him look very large and important. This was also common for this time period the person in the picture was usually drawn to look strong and powerful such as Napoleon does in The Emperor Napoleon in His Study at the Tuileries. The painting has strong lines and color the artist also did a very good job with the lighting in the painting it gives the viewer the ability to see the whole room and the small intricate pieces included in the painting such as the embroidered Bees and the N of his imperial emblem.
Impressionism is a different style of painting it embodies a moment in time this moment was captured and perfected by the artist this was a much different time period as we can see in the painting there are different cultures represented as well as ages and social groupings interacting this was common for this time. This painting has a different type of line, the line in this painting is not as clean it almost makes the picture look blurry in a way the colors are great and the brightness of the photo is good. The viewer gets a great idea of what is going on in the painting because the artist took his time and made sure each person in the portrait had an identity.
