We deliver the Foundation Phase within our setting by way of planning sheets to include the Seven core areas of the Foundation Phase requirement. Each topic is decided by way of either child request or have a particular interest in a topic or if we think we can deliver a certain topic that will cover a vast range of information then adult input is decided. The topic sheets are changed every Two weeks which include to Two focused tasks to be completed, one in Maths and the other in Language, literacy and communication. All staff have an input in the planning and any ideas that would be suitable to deliver the topic to its most maximum possible. The planning is set out for the following two weeks and is displayed where all staff have access to it and see what we are required to do daily. I support staff in doing this by ways of talking and asking their opinion, for example “ which focused task would you like to do?”, asking if there is an area of problem or isn’t quite working, how would they suggest we do it? etc. If we have felt that during the morning there was an area of the curriculum that has proved too adventurous or was a disaster then we will discuss how we can change it or simplify this, this would then be noted down in the planning and changed accordingly. If we have any changes that are going to apply to playgroup we either get a letter addressed to Louise Davies which after I have read it will show to other staff, phone calls or emails that will apply to playgroup or staff I will immediately tell then or ring then to discuss it. We are a very close, friendly playgroup so do contact each other outside of group should we feel the need to.
