Munich Massacre
The Munich games Massacre of 1972 was a devastating event worldwide. Due to the fact it was a very two sided conflict between two groups it caused many different reactions around the world and was questioned very much to why did this happen and what could it possibly lead to. the ideas were endless and so was the grief of the people of Israel, and even others of the world who lost important family members and iconic figures of their state. This event was important to Palestine to show they will never go down without a fight and will not stand to be taken control of and ordered around in their own homeland. Also it shows their true resentment towards Israel.
The 1972 Summer Olympic games started off   as a calm and smooth running competition between different countries until September 5th, when nine Israeli athletes and coaches were taken hostage. Before the games started tensions were already a little high due to the fact it was Germanys first time hosting since the Nazis hosted in 1936. It all began when eight members of the Palestine terrorist group Black September stormed apartments one and three of the Olympic village where the Israelis were staying. While being attacked they fought back and two of them were killed. The unfortunate ones who couldn't escape became the nine that were taken hostage. The Palestinians asked for 234 prisoners to be released from Israeli jails and 2 from German jails in return to let go of the hostages. Soon the Palestinians realized their requests would not be fulfilled by the German officials, so they asked for two planes to transport the hostages to Cairo, Egypt. In attempt to stop this from occurring German officials created "operation sunshine" which was a mission to storm the apartment and save the hostages. This could have possibly worked if only the Black September group hadn't found out about it through watching the news.
