Media Reaction to Immigration
The United States is a nation of immigrates.   Every citizen, visitor, and resident can trace their ancestry to a country other than the United States. Just as in the past, people immigrate to the United States seeking better opportunity. Most times immigration becomes a hot topic for discussion during election time.   However, it is an issue that must be adequately addressed.
Beginning the pilgrims in the 1600’s people has migrated to America seeking new or better economic opportunities (The History Channel, 2013).   Africans were brought to America between the 17th and 19th century as slaves against their will (The History Channel, 2013). In 1882 the federal government instituted the first immigration legislation when they enacted the Chinese Exclusion (The History Channel, 2013). In 1892, Ellis Island opened as the first federal immigration station.   Today, in 2013 most of the countries immigrants come from South America and Asian countries (The History Channel, 2013).
Politically, immigration is a hot topic.   It is unlikely that a politician will be elected to office if they have not sufficiently address the immigration issue.   The Democratic party view immigration as a rich part of the American history that is currently broken and will only be fix when the nations finds a way to legally allow legal immigrants to become citizens. Many felt that this is amnesty.   The Republican Party is against amnesty.   They feel that this would reward those here illegally.   Republicans feel that the only way to fix the illegal immigrant issue is to have tighter boarder control.   It is necessary that both sides come together to find a sound and comprehensive solution to illegal immigration.   A balance between both ideas is the best way to go.   It seems to day that immigration is an election key.   Many politicians talk speak of immigration, mainly during election season, but no...
