Marijuana

Marijuana: Friend or Foe?
While the reasons for not legalizing marijuana are valid in some ways, people need to look at the many advantages of legalizing it.   The government could solve so many economic troubles that are happening right now.   Think about it, if the government legalized and taxed the import and export the government would gain so much money from it.   The government would also gain money from people buying the herb from doctors and other suppliers.
Marijuana is proven to have a multitude of medicinal value.   It has shown to aid many illnesses that are common in people.   Dr. Joycelyn Elders stated this about the medicinal benefits of marijuana.   “The evidence is overwhelming that marijuana can relieve certain types of pain, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms caused by such illnesses as multiple sclerosis, cancer and AIDS.”(Elders).   While this seems like enough of an argument having said that marijuana can relieve pain from people that have cancer and other serious illnesses, people still argue against the drug.
Many doctors do not believe that the statement regarding the benefits of using marijuana for medicinal purposes.   Some believe it is just a “placebo effect” while others do not believe it has any medicinal value at all.   “Marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal value” (Kerlikowske).   This is what a drug czar had to say about the healing uses of marijuana.   Seeing it came from someone who knows a lot about this certain field of studies, one would think this is a very credible statement made by Gil Kerlikowske.   But people need to take another look at the living proof all the people that have suffered from illness and anxiety but helped greatly in these troubles by using the medical marijuana.
In the past, there have been many people who used the substance.
