Lucentio Speech

Good day ladies and gentlemen! I am Lucentio, from The Taming of the Shrew, a young and handsome student from Pisa, now in Padua to flourish my magnificent mind here at its fabulous University. My heart, on the other hand, has been captivated by the beautiful and youngest daughter of Baptista, Bianca! I must have her! How I burn, I pine, I perish. Oh never mind that, I will never be able to wed her thanks to her cruel, wicked, older sister Katherina. Why will she not be married? She’s too loud, obnoxious, unfashionable and bad tempered. Of course no man would want her, but if there ever was I would be forever in his debt. Anyhow, since her father will not be swayed to let his youngest marry before his eldest, I have come up with my own plan to capture sweet Bianca’s heart and hand in marriage. I’ll have my faithful servant Tranio switch clothes with me and present me as a tutor for Bianca, but of course, I will eventually reveal myself as a suitor once I have secured my place in her heart with her sister Katherina happily wedded as well.
As I have been informed, a modern interpretation of The Taming of The Shrew has been directed by Gil Junger called 10 Things I Hate About You. In 10 Things I Hate About You, I’m presented as the new pupil, Cameron, to an average high school where the two sisters attend, instead of the relatively rich noble that I am in The Taming of the Shrew. I obviously immediately fall for Bianca and quickly befriend Michael who, like my servant Gremio, helps me devise a plan to have Kat date in order to give me the opportunity to court Bianca. In accordance with The Taming of the Shrew, Kat is brought closer to Patrick, ultimately making them become a pair, just as Katherina and Petruchio do in The Taming of the Shrew. Through this, I am able to escort or date Bianca, after becoming her French tutor and eventually winning her heart after spending much time with her.
Since these are different times, I am not required to debate about marriage...
