Assessment Plan 2.
My job role is Manager at Evendine House Residential Home.   The home is registered for 20 residents, most of who are at various levels of dementia. All together there are 28 members of staff that I am responsible for, ranging from domestic assistants, caretakers, kitchen staff and care workers.   It is my responsibility as manager to create a safe caring environment for the residents and to promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere, promoting dignity, independence and choice. I feel my approach creates an open, positive and inclusive atmosphere.

Operations
I have recently updated the statement of purpose, due to the changes in management. The ethos of the home has now changed dramatically, as the original statement of purpose was detrimental to people living with dementia. I have revised it to reflect the change in needs of our present and future residents. It also had a non-resuscitation policy, which of course is no longer legal. Our policy was originally geared for more able residents, both physically and mentally, which no longer was appropriate for the nature of our residents. I made the statement of purpose about, no matter how old or vulnerable a resident is, it is still possible and essential to still have fun. This is reflected in our full programme of activities, of which is put in place by myself, liaising with the 2 activities co-ordinators.   These include day trips out, music and entertainment, flower arranging, art classes, Tai Chi, to name but a few.   As some of our residents are unable to cope with long journeys, we have an annual garden party, which is themed this year, to bring the seaside to them. Therefore, we are creating our own beach party, which will include a beach and punch and Judy show. (promoting healthy lifestyles – mental and physical health)
