Leadership Philosophy

My leadership philosophy that supports this command’s vision is relatively simple: to lead by example through actions, behavior, and performance.  As a leader, it is my responsibility to articulate a clear and concise vision that encompasses the goals, expectations, and consequences for this unit.  The First line Leader’s serve as key leadership nodes within this unit, which will ultimately determine the success or failure of our ability to effectively conduct our mission.  Therefore, I expect all leaders within this organization to possess three core attributes: be a leader of character, always set the example for others to follow, and communicate.   A leader of character will always choose the “hard right” over the easy wrong; guided by a solid moral compass and core values that mirror the 7 army values.  By setting the example, leaders will serve as role models who are competent, fair, consistent, and ethically sound.  Additionally, as the mentor, leaders will act as teachers, coaches, and as motivators.  Finally, to communicate, a leader will actively participate in the planning, execution, and monitoring of unit activities while helping to remove obstacles that impede success.
