Initially the scene is set as Mr Maloney enters his house, which appears to be the perfect home for any hard working man; it is very calm and welcoming, “The room was warm and clean, the curtains drawn, the two table lamps alight” Mrs Maloney keeps it this way as she wants her husband to feel happy and welcome to the home she doesn’t want him to come home and be annoyed as she doesn’t know how hard his day at work may have been. It appears that Mrs Maloney has a routine, you could insert here a quote relating to her thoughts before he arrives which links to the appearance of their home life this is for the reader’s benefit before we are introduced to himjust before Mr Maloney gets home she must make sure everything is perfect for him she doesn’t want him to feel any pressure and she wants him to be relaxed and happy to be home with her.

But the reality of things is were it seems everything is perfect it really isn’t it is just an you have a lot of small words here in this sentence suggest you rewrite it and try to be more structured I know what you intend to say but you could say it more academically illusion for bad things such as death and murder as which takes place in Lamb To The Slaughter

The Marriage of Mr and Mrs Maloney appears to be very happy and caring “She would glance up at the clock, but without anxiety, merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come.” the couple appear to be   avery happy couple like an ideal family that the reader would admire
