Within just about every organization you will find some type of innovation, but the type of innovation will vary depending on its employees. The capability of innovation is also depended upon the mission of that business. Walmart is the one of the world’s largest retailer, profiting about five billion dollars annually. Although Walmart is on top and does not worry about its competitors too much, they still have to remain in an innovative state of mind. If not, one of their competitors could actually take them out.
Within Walmart, it’s not just about product development. It’s also about how well you market that new product. You can’t sell a product if no one know about it. Walmart is a place where everyone has a voice and can provide ideas to the creation of its product. Having this type of environment helps a lot. One of Walmart’s disruptive innovation was when they started providing product services online. In 2013, about 1,500 of Walmart’s employees were dedicated to the success of the online market. This turned out to be a success as the overall goal of customer service both in store and online were continuing to increase. They knew where and how to utilize their employee. Those that had great ideas that could lead to great innovation were place together, simply because you will get more outcome when you place intelligent minds together. And innovative ideas will keep Walmart moving forward and staying on top in its market.
Though Walmart made great strides at trying to become an organization of many innovations, additional processes can be recommended in order to bring Walmart’s innovative capabilities to a higher level. Recommendations such as highlighting the innovation of its employees would really be a great process to consider.
