"In recent years environmental issues have attracted much interest at an international, national and local level. For example, in 2010, the Australian Government's Intergenerational Report identified climate change as one of the biggest challenges facing Australia, placing substantial pressures on Australia's economy, living standards and government finances over the next 40 years."
 
Socio-economic groups
The Nullam Lotosa has been designed for the middle socio-economic group with potential for lower socio-economic groups through government housing . These two groups differ drastically in terms of income, costs of living, family dynamics and so on. This requires the Nullam Lotosa to have optional interior layouts which minimises cost. However the cheaper the option, the less effectiveness of the design. The predominant model of Nullam Lotosa (designed for middle socio-economic group) will feature multiple rooms to accommodate 2 people per room, yet, an open space living interior layout can be built for lower socio-economic groups.
