Advertising companies use Facebook for a central brand site to market their products. They can target a specific audience and provide links to other sites for advertising reasons. Myspace: Family and friends social interaction, advertisement for media. Flicker: Photo sharing site. Twitter: Blog site where individuals can post opinions on topics around the world. Youtube: Video sharing site. Metacafe: A more formal video viewing website. Flicker: A site for individuals to share photos, comments, and videos.

There are many benefits of social media for individuals and society. Some of the benefits of social media for individuals is that social media gives people a place to share personal things with their families regardless of how far apart they are. For example families and friends can share pictures and events with others on Facebook and Myspace at the click of a mouse. Society also found many benefits of social media in the form of advertising. Now advertisers can target their audience that they are trying to advertise to easier than ever. For example companies that sell snowboards can target individuals that list snowboarding under their general interests or hobbies. Advertisers can use social media to build a hip, up to date community to advertise to.
