Development of Individuals
In this essay, I will be explaining the potential influences of five life factors that could have an impact on the development of individuals. For example; genetic, biological, socio-economic and lifestyle.
Cystic Fibrosis:-
Cystic fibrosis is a disease that causes mucus in the body to become thick and sticky and builds up and causes problems in many of the body's organs, especially the lungs and the pancreas. On average, people who have cystic fibrosis live into their mid-to-late 30s, although new treatments are making it possible for some people to live into their 40s and longer. Treatment involves the input, advice, and expertise of various professionals, such as child health doctors, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians, counsellors and psychologists as well as a primary healthcare team. Regular check-ups are needed and a check on development, growth and well-being of the patient are a necessity. This can have a big impact on the development of individuals, as they will need care when ill. A common cold can be lethal to someone with cystic fibrosis. Children with it may not be able to attend a lot of school as they might be ill or need treatment. Adults may find it hard to keep a job as they are likely to be off sick etc.
Brittle Bone Disease:-
Brittle bone disease is a rare genetic disorder that causes bones to break easily because of problems with collagen production and quality in the body. Children with brittle bone disease are often afraid of trying new things because of the fear of painful breaks and injuries. Psychotherapy is used to address this fear, and physical therapists can help the patients work out the safe areas in the body. Many also develop body image concerns as teenagers, which therapy and support groups can also help with.
