1.1 define the term ‘welfare’ in relation to children
The term welfare in relation to children is all about:
• the child’s diet and nutrition
• the child getting plenty of exercise
• the child being safe at all time
• the child getting the education they need
• the child getting plenty of different opportunities
• the child getting plenty of love and attention
• the child being cared for
• the child being hygienic
There are four main parenting styles these are authoritarian, permissive, neglectful and authorative.
Authoritarian
If the parents use the authoritarian parenting style the parents would have high expectations of their child and the child would have strict rules to follow.
It would impact the child because the child may show more aggressive behaviour outside of the home, may act shy or fearful around others, have low esteem and have difficulty in social situations
The advantages of this parenting style are the child will be more obedient and more responsible. The disadvantages of this parenting style is the child will have a lack of bravery, have low confidence, have low self- esteem and have a lack of self-belief.
Permissive
If parents use the permissive parenting style the parents will have low expectations of their child and only have a few rules for their child so they will rarely discipline their child.
It would impact the child because the child will lack self-discipline, may have poor social skill, may be self-involved or demanding and may feel insecure due to due to the boundaries they have.
The advantages of this parenting style are that the child will be more independent and have more confidence. The disadvantages of this parenting style are that the child will lose respect for their parents, the child will get spoiled and the child will often get into trouble.
Neglectful
If the parents use the neglectful parenting style the parents will show little love, may avoid...
