Task 1
Summarise the key aspects of:
a) Two pieces of Legislation relating to the teaching role
b) One set of Regulations relating to the teaching role
c) One Code of Practice relating to the teaching role
Briefly explain the relevance of each piece of Legislation, set of Regulations and Code of Practice to the teaching role

A) Data Protection Act 1998 – The Data Protection Act controls how personal information is used by organisations, businesses or the government. Everyone responsible for using data has to follow strict rules called ‘data protection principles’. I ensure that all of my learners’ personal information is kept safely and securely. I do this by keeping written records in a locked cabinet and electronic data is kept secure by using a password protected computer. The password is changed regularly. I also ensure that it is only used for its stated purpose and is time limited making sure the information is accurate and up to date.
Equality Act 2010 – The Equality Act 2010 legally protects people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society. It replaces previous anti-discrimination laws with a single act, making the law easier to understand and strengthening protection in some situations. It sets out the different ways in which it’s unlawful to treat someone.
