Leadership is second only to high quality teaching as the decisive influence on high performance in schools. Leaders need to be moved through a progressive pathway that takes them from middle to senior leadership positions. Leadership succession is one of the most important things that existing leaders can do to improve their own schools and develop the education system as a whole. LiNKS is proud to present what we believe will be an outstanding opportunity for our primary schools to develop some of their most talented middle leaders into the next generation of senior leaders.

By schools, for schools and school-based. Moves knowledge of ‘what works’ around the system. Has significant impact upon learners.

Who Should Participate in the Programme?
Existing middle leaders (coordinators and others holding whole and cross-school responsibilities) who have had significant experience and may have already undertaken middle leadership development. The programme can be seen as a natural progression route for those leaders who hope eventually to undertake the National Professional Qualification for Headship and is intended to strengthen their case for selection for that qualification. Participants should be selected by the senior leadership teams of primary schools and be supported by them through the programme.

Who Will Lead the Programme?
The three joint cohort leaders for 2014 will be Janet Hayward, Jill Watkins and Ty Golding. Ty Golding is Head of Barry Island Primary School and prior to entering teaching served in the British Army for several years....
