Adam Smith

1. A) Adam Smith was a Scottish moral philosopher and a pioneer of political economic. He believed the best economic system was based on small government, free trade and free competition which made him has the name of “Father of Capitalism”. Adam Smith suggested the small government which just caring for the security of the country and citizens with not interfering in the lives of the citizens. He believed that would costs less money to operate the government system.   From my point of view, i dislike Smith’s theory. I think the small government is unable to cover some social issues which would make the society unsteadily. Adman Smith’s capitalism is unfair for the poor who without money, cruel to the sick, handicapped and children. Comparing with Smith’s theory, I like Marx’s theory. First of all, he advocated free trade and free competition must be based on equality in power. No pain no gains, otherwise, the more you work, and the more you can win. Secondly, Marx believed people need big government which can provide free education for next generation, more jobs opportunities and medical care. This theory is way better than Smith’s small Government.

Nowadays, unemployment still an increasing big issue, the only way to decrease the unemployment rate is to offer more job opportunities by the government and some big corporations. Thus need a well-structured and build government to create more job positions. .   In order to obtain more jobs, the government must paid large amount of money into society. The more job positions are created, the larger amount of taxation government could levy. The larger amount of taxation government levied, the better education, health care and social pension...
