Task A. Research report

  A) Summarise the key aspects of legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice relevant to the role and responsibilities of the teacher.
My official job title at Boston College is Photography Lecturer.   Incorporated within this are two tutor group that I am responsible for. Below is a list of relevant and important legislation that I am legally bound to uphold as a staff member at the college.
The Children and Young Person Act; whilst my learners are at college it is obligation to ensure that their safety and welfare are paramount. The Children and young person Act 2008 ensures that young people in England and wales receive high quality care and services which are focused on and tailored to their needs.  
The Equality Act (2006); This act aims to eliminate discrimination, reduce inequality, protect human rights, build good relations and promote the opportunity to offer everybody a fair chance in society.   This is something that is focus on during tutorials and is regular embedded into the schemes of work.   This is also realised through the diverse study groups this area naturally offers.
Data Protect Act (1998); By incorporating good working practice such as, logging off computers or locking staff room doors where personal information is held, we can respect an individual’s right to have their person information kept confidential. The act itself controls how your personal information is used by organisations, businesses or the government.
Everyone who is responsible for using data has to follow strict rules called ‘data protection principles’. They must make sure the information is:
  * used fairly and lawfully
  * used for limited, specifically stated purposes
  * used in a way that is adequate, relevant and not excessive
  * accurate
  * kept for no longer than is absolutely necessary
  * handled according to...
