Assignment 1
1. Describe how you might contribute to a lesson given to a group of seven year old children learning to play percussion instruments?

Before setting out any of the equipment I would assist the teacher with checking the instruments over to make sure they are not broken and that there isn’t any health and safety issues that would have to be noted down.
I would assist with helping the group of seven year old children by helping to set out the instruments needed, I would set them out in a way where all off the same instruments where together. By setting them out like this the children can recognise the differences in sound between each instrument. I would also make sure that all of the music notes where onto sheets, it would be useful for them to be set into each instruments so that they don’t get confused when playing.
I would at first base myself with the less able children, as they may need it explaining more than once. If any of the children began to misbehave I would remove them from the situation by sitting them away from the music instruments this is so I can help to maximise the learning for the other children.   I would praise the children which are doing well as positive reinforcement can help to raise a child’s confidence.

If any on the equipment we would be using it broken then I would try and fix it so that it is useable for the percussion lesson, then once it is finished it could be sent for a repair.   I would make sure that we have the right amount of instruments for each child to either share one between two or one each. I would also make sure each child have a music...
